What You Need to Know About Interest, Terms, and the Safety of Your Savings
Pre-Contractual Information
What does the interest rate table show?
The table shows the current annual interest rate earned on funds held in your savings account, based on the selected currency.
What will my interest rate be?
Currently, the savings account earns 3% annual interest for accounts denominated in ALL and EUR, according to the Bank's applicable terms and conditions.
Is the interest rate fixed?
No. The interest rate is variable and may be updated by the Bank based on market conditions and product policies.
Any revised rate will be published and applied in accordance with the applicable terms and conditions in force.
Is there a minimum amount required to open a savings account?
No. You may open a savings account without a mandatory minimum deposit and start saving with any amount you choose.
When do you receive interest?
Interest accrues daily, based on the end-of-day balance of your savings account, and is automatically paid at the end of each month.
How is interest calculated?
Interest is calculated using the following formula:
Daily Balance × Annual Interest Rate × Number of Days ÷ 365
(÷ 366 for leap years)
Where:
- Annual Interest Rate is the applicable yearly interest rate.
- Daily Balance is the balance available in the savings account at the end of each day.
- Number of Days is the period during which the savings account remains active.
When does interest start accruing?
Interest begins to accrue from the moment funds become available in your savings account.
The longer the funds remain in the account, the more interest accumulates over time.
Is tax applied to the interest earned from the savings account?
Yes. A 15% withholding tax is applied to the interest earned on the savings account.
You do not need to calculate or pay this tax separately. The Bank automatically withholds the applicable tax when interest is paid and credits only the net interest amount to your account.
Can you close the savings account?
Yes. You may close your savings account at any time.
To do so, you must transfer the remaining balance from the savings account to another account and notify the Bank by submitting an account closure request in accordance with the Bank's procedures.
Is the savings account insured?
Yes. Savings accounts are insured by the Albanian Deposit Insurance Agency (ASD) under the statutory deposit insurance scheme in the Republic of Albania.
The maximum insurance coverage is ALL 2,500,000 per depositor, per bank, regardless of the number of deposits or the currencies in which they are held.
If you hold multiple deposits or accounts with the same bank, they are aggregated for insurance purposes up to the maximum statutory coverage limit.
